Accessibility
Stereo 41 is built around the belief that great food, great sound, and great hospitality belong to everyone. That extends to our website. We are committed to making this site usable and enjoyable for all visitors, including people who navigate with keyboards, screen readers, or other assistive technologies.
We design and build to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at the AA level.
What We Have Done
- Accessible text menus Our full menu is available as structured, readable text alongside the visual PDF versions. Every dish, every description, every price available to screen readers and other assistive tools.
- Full keyboard navigation Every page, every tab interface, and our menu viewer can be operated entirely by keyboard. Focus indicators are visible throughout.
- Screen reader support We use semantic HTML, ARIA landmarks, descriptive image alternatives, and proper heading structure so assistive technologies can present our content clearly and in logical order.
- Reduced motion If you have set a reduced-motion preference in your operating system, our site respects it. Scroll animations, transitions, and decorative motion are disabled automatically.
- Skip navigation A “Skip to main content” link is available on every page for keyboard users who want to bypass repeated navigation.
- Sufficient color contrast Text and interactive elements meet or exceed WCAG AA contrast ratios across all sections of the site.
- Touch-friendly targets All buttons, links, and interactive controls meet minimum target size guidelines for comfortable use on touch devices.
How We Audit
Accessibility is not a checkbox. It is an ongoing practice. Here is how we approach it:
- Structured audits We conduct page-by-page reviews against WCAG 2.1 AA success criteria, covering contrast, keyboard access, screen reader compatibility, focus management, text alternatives, and semantic structure.
- Real-device testing We test with VoiceOver on macOS and iOS, keyboard-only navigation, and browser developer tools to catch issues that automated scans miss.
- Continuous improvement When we update the site, add events, or change menus, we review those changes for accessibility before they go live. When standards evolve or we learn something new, we update accordingly.
- Feedback-driven If a guest tells us something is not working, we treat it as a priority. The best audit is a real person trying to use the site.
Known Considerations
- Our menu modal displays PDF files via embedded previews. These are not accessible to screen readers, so we provide a prominent link to the full text version of our menus both at the top of the modal and within each tab panel.
- Event flyer images on our sounds schedule are decorative promotional graphics. The event name, date, time, and genre information are always available as text alongside each flyer.
